Lady Blackbirds Take Down Bombers

EDON 1/30/2014—The Pettisville Lady Blackbirds jumped out to an early lead against the Edon Lady Bombers and would not look back, as the Blackbirds would go on to win 51-32.

In the first quarter of the contest, both Pettisville’s offense and defense set the tone early, holding the Bombers to only six points, while scoring 16 of their own, and jumping out to a ten point first quarter lead.

The second quarter would be much of the same, as only Gearhart would be able to hit a basket from the field for the Edon, scoring seven of their nine second quarter points. Meanwhile, Pettisville would score 14 points in the second period, expanding their lead to 15, as they lead 30-15 at halftime.

The third quarter was a very balanced one, with Pettsville scoring 13 points, and Edon putting up 11. At the end of three quarters, the Lady Blackbirds held a 43-26 lead.

Both offense’s would struggle to score points in the fourth and final quarter of the contest. Pettisville would again outscore Edon in the quarter, this time by a margin of 8-6, giving the Blackbirds the 51-32 victory.


Chrisman lead the way for the Bombers with 14 points on the night, followed by Gearhart with nine,Kiess scored four, Sonneberger had three, and Kaylor finished with two.

For the Blackbirds, it was Hostetler setting the pace with 18. Fricke contributed 13, Avina scored seven, Pursel was next with five, and Sauder and Klopfenstein rounded out the scoring with four a piece.

Pettisville: 16, 14, 13, 8—51
