Hilltop Lady Cadets Drop Hard Fought Struggle With Swanton Lady Bulldogs At Home

WEST UNITY: February 4, 2014 – Hilltop hosted NWOAL foe Swanton in non-conference action on February 4, dropping a hard fought battle with the visiting Lady Bulldogs 47-40. The Lady Cadets led throughout 3, but were unable to hold off a surging Swanton team in the 4th, surrendering 22 points in the final quarter to fall behind and let the game slip away.

As a team, Hilltop shot 28 percent from the field and hit on just 3 of 23 attempts from the three range. The Lady Cadets out rebounded Swanton 24-21 and committed just 12 turnovers to Swanton’s 14.

In the loss, it was another big night for Senior Emily Armbruster who hit for 19 in the game while taking down 6 boards. Hannah Bleikamp had 7 on the game; LeAnn Joost hit for 5 while grabbing 5 boards and Cierra Grant had 4 points. Kailey Creamer hit for 2 but had a big night with 5 assists along with 3 takeaways. Bailey Funkhouser chipped in 1 from the line but played a key defensive role with 6 rebounds in the loss for the Lady Cadets.

The loss drops the Lady Cadets to 12-5 on the year while remaining at 6-2 in the BBC.
