The Edon Northwest School Board met on April 13th in regular session via teleconference. As expected, much of the meeting revolved around the current COVID-19 crisis, and how that would affect the students moving forward.
According to Superintendent Anthony Stevens, the State has not yet shut down schools for the rest of the year, but Edon is working on policies should it happen.
Some changes have already been made. Prom has been postponed until at least June 27th. It has not been cancelled because the administration does not want to take away from the High School experience any more than what has been taken from the students. Graduation has currently not been changed, but a committee has been formed to make any changes if the stay at home order continues.
There will also be changes to the Scholarship process. Under normal circumstances the school has had an interview date where delegates would come to the school on a specified day to interview students. Since this will not be a viable option, the school is working on several alternatives to help it’s students secure scholarship money.
In other actions, the board has adopted a resolution delegating authority for determining it impractical or impossible to evaluate employees due to COVID-19.
The board also took annual action to non-renew all supplemental contracts at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. They also accepted the resignations of Elizabeth Becker and Ashlyn Killion effective at the end of the current contract year.
Finally, the Board approved to continue the Medicaid School Program with Healthcare Process consulting for fiscal year 2021.

I think this will defeat our purpose! Why reopen for 16 days, you are only asking for more Covid 19 cases! Guess we will sit tight play it by ear day by day and see what Gov. Decides.
