The Leggett Street student body and staff were treated to a visit by Firefighter Phil recently during two 45 minute assemblies.
The program was set up by the Wauseon Fire Department and was a fun way for the students to learn about fire rules and safety while being entertained at the same time.
Creative Safety Products was founded in 1975 with the simple idea of bringing child safety lessons to elementary schools. Since then we have taught millions of children how to stay safe, be smart and become better citizens.
The Officer Phil, Deputy Phil and Firefighter Phil Safety Programs teach children about stranger danger, the negative effects of bullying, fire safety, internet safety and respect for authority figures. We also encourage positive behavior like honesty, friendship, being a buddy not a bully, civic responsibility and knowing what to do in an emergency just to name a few. In many cases we have been credited with saving children’s lives.
Children learn these valuable lessons in a fun, entertaining and informative 30 minute live assembly in their schools.
During the live presentation we use magic, games and ventriloquism with one of our characters to engage the children and keep their attention while they learn.
To reinforce what the children learned in the live presentation each child is given a grade specific activity book and other interactive materials to take home to work on with their parents or guardians and teachers throughout the year.
