August 25th-PATRICK HENRY: As the match went on, the Locomotives picked up steam. Patrick Henry was able to fend off any hopes of a late rally, and successfully defended their home court in straight sets.
Montpelier started the match sluggishly, losing the first set 8-25. Game 2 was a different story, however, as the Lady Locos came to life. Yet it still wasn’t enough, and they again lost the set, 17-25. In the third set, the Locomotives gave their best performance of the evening, but just couldn’t get that first win, dropping the set 20-25.
Thinking of her teammates first, Lady Loco Hannah Blake dished out 8 assists to go along with her 2 kills and 14 digs. One of said teammates, Audrey Pirtle had 3 kills. Baylee Hageman nailed 2 kills, and also contributed 7 digs and an ace, while Landri McKelvey did a bit of everything for the girls of Montpelier. Her stat line read 2 kills, 3 assists, 2 digs, 2 aces.
