Janet C. Borton, 88 years, of Alvordton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at Hillside Country Living, Bryan. Janet was born May 20, 1932, in Alvordton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Devillo and Juanita (Severence) Figgins.

She was a 1950 graduate of Alvordton High School. Janet was a waitress for many years, before working as a cashier at Kmart. She also worked at the West Unity Citgo gas station.

She was a member of Olive Branch Church, and formerly a member of the Alvordton United Brethren Church. She attended the West Unity Senior Center. Janet enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies and spending time with her family and following all their activities.

She is survived by her six children, Randy (Vicky) Borton of West Unity, Denny (Cathy) Borton, of  Talmadge, Ohio, Jeff Borton of West Unity, Ohio, Mark (Toni) Borton of Montpelier, Ohio, Vickie (Kevin Rau) Colon of West Unity, Ohio and Tony (Kelley) Borton of Cygnet, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Figgins of Bryan, Ohio and Larry “Shorty” Figgins of Alvordton, Ohio; two sisters, Phylis (Ron) Hesselschwardt of Defiance, Ohio and Karen Draper of Jackson, Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Jan Figgins of Fayette, Ohio and Deb Figgins of Alvordton, Ohio.


She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband and best friend, Gary H. Borton; one son, Keith “Chester” Borton; four brothers, Ed Figgins, Ralph Figgins, Ronnie Figgins and Harold “Pete” Figgins.

Visitation for Janet C. Borton will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the West Unity Church of Christ, 1205 West Jackson Street, West Unity where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Goosman officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Alvordton. Due to COVID-19 requirements, social distancing will be observed and face mask must be worn.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Hillside Country Living, Activities Department, 09876 County Road 16, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
