ELIDA, OHIO-Archbold had just grabbed a 44-38 lead, their largest of the night, about halfway through the fourth quarter.

That’s when Ottawa-Glandorf turned up the defensive pressure and closed the game on a 14-4 run to pull out a 52-48 win over the Streaks at the Elida Fieldhouse.

Back-to-back buckets by Ashton Kammeyer, the second one off a pass from Noah Gomez on a fast break, gave Archbold a 41-37 lead at the 6:02 mark of the final quarter.

The Titans were 1/2 at the line following a technical on Archbold head coach Joe Frank before Austin Roth drained a triple from in front of the Bluestreaks bench as their lead swelled to 44-38.

From that point OG took over by scoring eleven unanswered points as Carter Schimmoeller hit a three ball, Eli Schmenk had a layup off an Archbold turnover, and Brennen Blevins added a three-point play to make it 49-44 with 1:21 to go.

OG, who was also 3/4 at the line during the run and were 8/11 in quarter, forced six of Archbold’s eight turnovers on the night in the fourth.

“I think they turned up the heat, and they made a bunch of plays,”  Frank said. “That was the difference in the game.”

Archbold made one last gasp as DJ Newman hit a jumper in the lane and Kammeyer scored off an OG turnover to draw Archbold to within 50-48 with 9.6 to go.

Owen Nichols would seal the game though for the Titans by going 2/2 at the charity stripe.

Ottawa Glandorf controlled the game early with a 9-0 run after Archbold scored the first points of the game to take a 9-2 advantage.

The Streaks had no answer for the 6’7” Nichols as he tallied nine of his game-high 22 points in the first quarter to help OG to a 16-10 lead.

After an even second quarter that saw Ottawa-Glandorf take a 24-19 at halftime Archbold would make a run in the third.

Newman would score twice in the lane to trim the OG lead to 24-23 before Nichols responded for OG with a triple to make it 27-23.

Archbold would then get back-to-back treys from Alex Roth and Newman to pull the Streaks even at 29-29.

Four straight points by the Titans gave them a 33-29 lead but Kammeyer scored six straight points for Archbold in return with two inside buckets and was 2/2 at the line to tie the game at 35-35 with 1:30 remaining in the quarter.

Newman then gave Archbold a brief lead with a field goal, but Nichols added a bucket for OG to end the quarter and tie the game at 37 going to the fourth.

Both teams were very efficient on offense with Archbold going 19/38 (50%) overall from the floor with four triples while the Titans were 18/32 (56%) with four makes from beyond the arc.

Ottawa-Glandorf (19-4) did own a 21-13 rebounding advantage and were 12/17 at the foul line while Archbold finished 6/9.

Kammeyer finished the night with 18 points to pace Archbold while Newman added 15. Blevins joined Nichols in double digits for Ottawa-Glandorf 13.
