The Bryan City Council held their meeting on Monday, October 18th at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Council then moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting that took place on October 5th. With no public present to address council, the Clerk Treasurers report was heard.
The report was for the month of September and was already received by council who then voted to approve the report.
Council then moved to hear Emergency Ordinance 44-2021 regarding the annual appropriations for the City of Bryan for the fiscal year ending December 31st, 2021.
The appropriations are for a request for the general fund of the Parks and Recreation Department for operating supplies in the amount of $3,520.00. The money is from a combination of donations from the Class of 1970 as well as from the Lowe Memorial.
The second appropriation request is for $65,000.00 for the recycling fund for a new trailer and truck appropriation due to an accident on North 15 around 3 weeks ago.
The money will be getting reimbursed by the insurance company, but the items need to be ordered now. The total amount for appropriations is $68,520.00. A motion was made to suspend the rules which was approved followed by a motion to approve the ordinance which was also approved.
Next, council moved to hear Resolution 34-2021 regarding authorization for the Arborist of the City of Bryan, Williams County, Ohio to apply for an Urban Canopy Restoration Grant for the City of Bryan, Williams County, Ohio.
A motion was made to suspend the rules which was approved followed by a motion to approve the resolution which was also approved.
Council then heard a request from the Bryan Police Department for permission to test for a new Sergeant. It was stated that Sergeant John Rathke was handing over his stripes to take a position with the MAN Unit. Council moved to approve a new civil service exam for the police department.
A request for the final approval of the plat and replat for the Graystone subdivisions then followed. Council moved to hear Emergency Ordinance 45-2021 to accept the final plat for the Graystone subdivision first edition and plat of lot 24 Graystone subdivision.
A motion was made to suspend the rules which was approved followed by a motion to approve the ordinance which was also approved.
Council members were then asked if they had anything additional to discuss with some members giving thanks regarding various issues.
Mayor Schlade then let council know that the 2020 census results had come in and they showed the city increased its population by 2.1% or from 8,545 people to 8,729 people.
Council then moved to enter Executive Session for the appointment of personnel before then adjourning for the evening.
