The Fayette Village Council held their meeting on Monday, December 22nd at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Council first moved to approve the agenda as presented as well as the minutes for the December 8th meeting and December 15th Public Works and Finance Committee meetings.
Council then moved to allow any visitors that were present to address council before moving to the report of municipal offices.
The mayor then gave a report to council which was followed by the administrators report and VFOs report. Council also moved to pay the bills as presented.
Members then moved on to the reading of ordinances and resolutions with the following items being approved. The First Reading of Ordinance 2021-16 regarding appropriation modifications for 2021. The First Reading of Ordinance 2021-17 to increase revenues. The First Reading of Ordinance 2021-18 for supplemental appropriations for 2021.
The First Reading of Resolution 2021-07 to authorize the Village Administrator to enter into and execute an agreement for emergency management services with the Emergency Management Agency.
The Second Reading for Resolution 2021-06 to authorize the Indigent Defense contract for 2022. Council then moved to enter into executive session to discuss employee compensation.
Upon return from executive session, a motion was made to amend the agenda and add in an item to change the pay of Clay Tobias to equal that of other employees.
Council then continued with the reading of ordinances and resolutions with the Third Reading of Ordinance 2021-14 being discussed first. The ordinance was in regard to the setting of salaries and wages for 2022 and included a 10% increase in pay for members of the police department.
Discussion took place between members of council with the final vote being three for the ordinance, two against the ordinance and one abstaining.
Council then moved to approve the Third Reading of Ordinance 2021-15 with amendments that establishes temporary appropriations for 2022, including the purchase of a new police vehicle for $38,900.
Legislative actions then followed with council moving to approve the transfer of sick time to Joel Smith from anyone who wanted to donate their hours.
With no other business to discuss, council moved to adjourn for the evening.
