The Fayette Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, December 20th, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

During the meeting, board members heard reports given by the Superintendent, building principals and the treasurer.

The Superintendent informed the board that a few people have been approved for the substitute teacher positions under the new provisions that were set up by the State.

The hope is to gain more but, at the current time, substitutes are needed throughout the whole school system. It was also stated that an application was filed for a safety grant through the Ohio Attorney General’s office for $2,500.

The Treasurer then informed the board that revenue and expenditures are up compared to the same two years prior.

Much of that is contributed from Covid funds and new grant initiatives that have been available to the school. The High School Principal then spoke and stated that the scoreboards in the High School Gymnasium will be getting updated and the side boards will be repaired.

The JV/Varsity girls will be participating in a holiday tournament at Swanton this year. An FFA fruit sale was held and was successful again this year. The STEAM program is working on robotics and the students are enjoying the class.

Thirteen seniors attended the manufacturing day with Fulton County employers. The Elementary Principal then stated that the Christmas concert was a success and had a large audience. The Fall reading test for the third grade had a passage rate of 52% which is higher than the State average of 40%.

69% of students also met the Guarantee Promotion score and there was an attendance rate of 97% for conferences this year. The Technology Supervisor then informed the board that the cabling for six new access points is complete.

Board members then also approved the financial reports during the meeting before moving on to discuss the Organizational meeting.

The meeting was set for January 10th, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. with Kirk Keiser acting as President Pro-Tem. Numerous Staffing recommendations were then approved followed by the board moving to approve the school calendar for the 2022-2023 school year.

Terry Kovar was then presented with a plaque for serving as a board member for four additional years, equaling a total of 12 years on the board. The meeting was then adjourned at 6:41 p.m.
