(October 16th, 2014)-EDON: It’s the stuff from which legends are made.

Playing a hated rival in post-season play, where the stakes are so much higher, adds a whole new dimension to tournament action. This very scenario came to be when Edon was pitted against the neighboring Bulldogs of Edgerton. Of course, the five-set battle in which the two teams engaged late in the regular season, which saw the Lady Bombers successfully invade Edgerton’s home court, also brought another element of intensity to the match.

Out for revenge, the Lady Bulldogs wasted little time in making themselves at home in the Bomber’s hanger, taking game 1 25-14. The Edon girls rebounded in the second game, leading to an epic back and forth affair that seemed as though it would never end. It did, however, and the Bombers came away with a 32-30 victory. Neither side relented in the third set, as each side wrestled for control of the match. It was the Lady Bulldogs who earned the advantage, winning the game 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Game 4 saw a depleted Bomber squad struggle. They lost the set 12-25, suffering the pain of not only ending their season, but allowing their most hated of foes to advance in the tournament as well.

Three of Edon’s four seniors had strong performances in their final outing representing the royal blue and gray. Kaitlin Chrisman provided 10 kills and 10 digs for the Bombers. Fellow senior Alex Kiess led the team in assists with 23, also making 6 digs and 4 kills on the evening. Meanwhile, Nicole Newell had 18 digs and 11 kills in a herculean effort for Edon, leading the Bombers in both statistical categories.
