The Wauseon Chamber of Commerce held a restaurant week event in an effort to help promote local businesses. The event, which took place from Sunday, February 20th to Sunday, February 27th, gave people a chance to win one of 21 total prizes.

In order to win those prizes, customers could go to any one of the 17 partnered restaurants and pick up a restaurant week card.

From then on, the customer could visit one of the restaurants and receive a sticker after ordering. After receiving five stickers, the card was complete, and the person was able to turn it in to be entered into the drawing.

The grand prize was for a 50-inch Samsung Smart TV sponsored by Wal-Mart and the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce. 20 additional prizes were also available and consisted of restaurant gift certificates valued at $25 each. The drawing for this competition was held on Thursday, March 3rd with Jackie Savage being the grand prize winner.

The competition, while fun for those competing to win the grand prize or various gift certificates, also helps local businesses.

“The restaurants really felt the impact of this. It not only helped in general but really helped during the week for business. It was good to be able to dedicate a week to our restaurants,” said Executive Director Bill Drummer.

210 cards were turned in by the end of the week. With each card having to either dine-in or order carry-out five times, the restaurants were most certainly helped by this.

Restaurants involved in the promotion were as follows. AKA Designs, American Winery, Azteca, Biggby Coffee, Blue Ribbon Diner, DasEssen Haus, Fortune Kitchen, Los Mariachis, Marcos Pizza, Red Rambler-Ramblin Reds, Ryans Restaurant, Sauders Barn Restaurant, Special Grounds Coffee, Sullivans Restaurant, Sullys Bistro, and Warrior Wings.
