Washington, D.C., welcomed the Archbold Eighth grade class for their sixth in a row, annual trip to explore the extraordinary and full of history, U.S. Capitol.
Students got to experience first-hand the very busy city that the United States President calls home.
The trip began by traveling in busses to the city, and students arriving at the Holiday Inn by Maryland, where they stayed while in D.C.
Students were accompanied by Principal Matt Shields, eighth grade Language Arts teacher, Jessica Miller, and seventh grade History teacher, Dana Hilfinger.
Archbold eighth graders got the opportunity, as one of the first classes allowed back, to tour the Capitol Building with a representative from Bob Latta’s office.
Students were shown the underground tunnels and into the Capitol. Mr. Shields shared, “The kids enjoyed themselves, and I think it was a meaningful experience for them.”
US Government Official, Bob Latta, posted to Facebook, regarding the Archbold class trip, “It’s great to be able to welcome constituents back into the Capitol, and share all of the history within these walls.”
Arlington National Cemetery held their formal Wreath Laying Ceremony that allowed four students from the Archbold class to participate in, Infront of the Tomb.
While at the Arlington Cemetery, students and staff were able to visit relatives that were buried in the National Cemetery.
Also toured by students was the Holocaust Museum, Mount Vernon and Gardens, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, WW2 Memorial, and Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Students also attended a dinner cruise boat, with dancing and live entertainment, along the river.
