The male Athlete of the Week is Bryan tennis player Jay Fortner. After winning a sectional title the previous week, Fortner won the Division II district crown last week to become Bryan’s first three-time state qualifier.
Fortner, who now has 91 career wins, will be one of the four No.1 seeds at the state tournament this week in Mason, Ohio.
