The Bryan city council meeting on May 20 began with the Pledge of Allegiance. All five council members, Jim Kozumplik, Mary Leatherman, Judy Yahraus, John Betts and Richard Hupe, were present.
In the first order of business, council approved the previous meeting minutes from May 2.
Next, Amy Miller of the Bryan Area Foundation requested a parklet (curbside seating for dining) for the west side of the square. Miller said that the BAF would cover the cost.
Council members affirmed that they are in favor of the parklet and legislation for it will be discussed at the next council meeting.
The city council then approved of the financial report from the clerk-treasurer.
Next, council approved Resolution 28-2022. Here, permission was granted to the police chief to apply for body worn cameras for all Bryan policemen.
That was followed by council approval of Resolution 29-2022. Here, the fire and police chiefs are authorized to apply for a grant for the American Rescue Plan Act for First Responder Wellness Recruitment.
The city council then approved Resolution 30-2022. This is a partnership with Williams County and the city of Bryan into a partnership agreement with the Maumee Valley North CHIP Consortium.
Next, council approved Resolution 31. Here, the city of Bryan received a $125,000 grant to add more amphitheatre pathways. That was followed by council approving Resolution 32-2022, establishment of an Ohio Opiates Fund.
Next, council approved Resolution 33-2022, accepting a $245,000 donation from Airmate. Council then approved Ordinance 32-2022, a transfer of funds for expenses.
That was followed by council approving Ordinance 33-2022, moving annual appropriations into the 525 Water Reserve Fund.
Next, council approved the building permit for an Airmate Company building addition.
In council comments, Betts thanked Airmate for investing in Bryan, thanked BMU for helping Airmate find solutions and thanked BAF for all that they do.
Yahraus thanked all those involved with pathways for the amphitheatre and for the parklets, which should be exciting.
Mayor Schlade thanked city employees for all their hard work over the past few weeks.
City council then voted to adjourn.
