The Swanton Board of Education held their meeting on Wednesday, October 19th. The meeting began at 6:29 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.

With no public wishing to speak, the board moved to approve the agenda. Commendations were then given to students who were nominated for Student of the Month.

The students of the month are Dylan Steiner – freshman, Ian Cutcher – sophomore, Skylar Adams – junior, and Alyson Burling – senior. Each of the students were called up and given a certificate.

The report of the treasurer was then touched on with the board moving to approve the minutes from the September 28th meeting, listed financial reports and investments, acceptance of donations and appropriation modifications/estimated resource changes.

The five-year forecast was then discussed with the current tax information being looked at.

The superintendent report was then given with it being mostly focused on the school’s state report card.

The report card switched from letter grades to a star system within the past year.

The report showed that Swanton Local Schools received a good rating from the state and that they were able to meet or excel in the areas looked at.

Voting items were then addressed with the board moving to approve the following items.

The early graduation of Alexa Sanders at the end of the 2022-23 school year due to completing requirements and to attend college.

An agreement for the employment of non-degree holding substitute teachers and recommended personnel items.

Building reports were then given by members of the administration before the meeting moved into executive session at 6:56 p.m.

Following the session, the meeting was adjourned for the evening.
