STRYKER – The brief history of Stryker football had another first as Panther senior Jaydin Rethmel became the first football player to sign to continue his football career at the next level.
Rethmel will be headed to Division III Ohio Northern University where he will be studying computer science.
Rethmel considered Bluffton, Defiance, Tiffin, and Trine before settling on Ohio Northern University.
“Out of the several schools I talked to and met with, they (ONU) were the only ones that felt like I could get an education that would prepare me for the future and have a successful career in football.”
Rethmel, a two-time captain for Stryker, credits football with helping him academically.
“I struggled early in high school academically but wanting to play college football made me work much harder”, elaborated Rethmel. “
“I learned that working with others is the most important part of success and that if you can’t work with your teammates, you won’t be successful.”
“I also learned that you need to be dedicated to get what you want in life”, added Rethmel when talking about what being involved in athletics has taught him.
