The February 23, 2023 Williams County Commissioners’ meeting was held at 10:15 a.m.
Two resolutions were approved by the commissioners. Resolution 23-0079, which approves accommodating F&M Bank’s request for dollar amounts for each assigned credit card that was given to the Williams County JFS Executive Director Fred Lord, for his department to use.
Resolution 23-0078 allowed for new lines to be added and supplemental appropriations to be made to various Williams County department funds.
The commissioners then moved to the fourth floor of the Williams County Courthouse at 11 a.m. to meet with two representatives of Garmann Miller to discuss the deconstruction/renovation of the asbestos contaminated office space.
Eric Baltzell and Ryan Heitamp walked the space with the commissioners, getting photos and measurements in order to produce a proposal schematic design.
Discussion was held over how to allocate federal funding that is available for this project, and the commissioners are thinking that it may be easier to appropriate the federal funds towards parts of the project that require fewer federal regulations in order to incorporate said funds seamlessly.
Baltzell and Heitamp were then given instructions on how to get into contact with Erie Environmental, Tetra Tech, and Maumee Valley, who are also working with the county on this renovation.
While flooring and tiling need to be removed due to contamination, the biggest concern with this project is the removal of the ceiling, which is fully permeated with asbestos.
More research will have to be done on the structural integrity of the tower before a plan on how to best tackle this project can be formulated.
