UPDATE: Two Inmates Escape From Lima Prison Including Convicted Murderer With Ties To Area

May 24 8:15am Update

(PRESS RELEASE) Early this morning, the Henderson (KY) Police Department observed a stolen vehicle believed to be occupied by two escaped inmates out of Ohio.

Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and it attempted to flee. Officers pursued the vehicle until it wrecked on Camaro Drive where the two occupants fled on foot.

James Marion Lee was arrested. The other suspect, Bradley Gillespie, has not been apprehended.

Gillespie is 6’ tall, 200 pounds, 50 years old, was last seen wearing dark clothing and appeared to still have a bald head.

Law Enforcement officers in Ohio are searching for two inmates who escaped from the Lima, Ohio Correctional Facility on Tuesday, May 23rd.

According to a Facebook post from the Allen County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office, the prison in question is the Allen-Oakwood Correctional Institute in Lima. The inmates who escaped are James Lee and Bradley Gillespie.


Lee is currently 47 years old and has brown hair, blue eyes and weighs 300 pounds. Gillespie is currently 50 years old and is bald with blue eyes and weighs 200 pounds.

He does have ties to the Williams County and Defiance County area according to authorities. Gillespie was convicted of murder and Lee was convicted of burglary, breaking and entering, and safecracking.

Both men are described as armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees them is advised to exercise extreme caution and not approach them. Contact your local law enforcement agencies immediately.
