The Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Monday, June 5th. The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Visitors Michael Fischer from the Metamora Chamber of Commerce and Chris Ruetz both spoke. Mr. Fisher spoke first about the Party in the Park event and stated that the required lease fee and deposit were completed earlier that day.
A copy of the F permit was provided along with proof of liability insurance. It was stated that Fulton County would be out later Friday to inspect and issue the food permit.
Mr. Ruetz then spoke regarding this year’s number of volleyball teams for the summer leagues and the weekend tournament.
A couple of teams had to be turned away due to demand and the idea of adding two additional courts in the future was brought up.
The topic was tabled until the next L&B committee meeting on June 21st. Minutes were then approved from the May 15th meeting along with the reading of the bills.
Under old business, council moved to discuss the following items. A motion to hire Bailey Lumbrezer to clean the office once a month for $40.00 which was approved.
Karon Lane moved to approve new resident packets that consist of a welcome letter, business information sheet; important contact phone numbers and new resident information form to be completed for our office.
It was then stated that the park lease needs to be looked at and possibly reviewed/revised for future deadlines.
A resident filed a verbal complaint regarding a neighbor’s property conditions. They were informed that a “formal” complaint would have to be completed in writing to be filed.
Discussion then shifted to Fin Farms and the village reservoirs. A quote was provided of $1,200.00 to treat both reservoirs for filamentous algae and submerged weeds.
It was stated that the village had previously been treating the reservoirs with copper sulfate. It was decided to continue using the copper sulfate until it runs out and then revisit the use of Fin Farms later.
They will still be reached out to regarding the possibility of adding White Amur, Grass Caro and Tilapia to the reservoirs later this year.
An ODOT Bridge Project was discussed next along with the smoke testing infiltration list.
Under new business, clarifications were given regarding a fence permit. The Metamora Community Library is also asking to install a Storybook Trail along the walking path at The Metamora Park. The request was approved and it is expected to be installed by October 2023.
The Fiscal Officers report was given next with there first being a motion to reschedule the July 3rd meeting to July 5th which passed.
The ODNR NatureWorks Grant was brought up next with it being stated the color scheme was finalized. Items for ordering the playground equipment for the new toddler playground area will be established in the Spring of 2024 near the T-Ball field.
APC will donate time and equipment to the village and will hopefully begin breaking ground in the fall of 2023.
A Fulton County Health Department issue was discussed next. A sewer issue is taking place in the village with a resident on Swanton Street.
The health department is working with the family to get it resolved. The mowing of ditch banks came up next before council moved to enter executive session at 8:19 p.m.
Council exited executive session at 8:44 p.m. with Attorney Whitlock being authorized to send a letter to a property owner regarding a potential purchase.
With no other items needing to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 8:46 p.m.
