(April 9th, 2015) – EDON: With superior numbers, it was an easy victory for Edon when they hosted Stryker and Fayette in a three way track battle. The Bombers scored 97 points, while Fayette came in second place with 39. Stryker assumed third place with 17 points.
Jumps were a strong suit for the Bombers in the meet. Blake Thiel took first place in the long jump for Edon, covering a distance of 16’1”. Fayette’s Alex Jaramillo came in second place with a jump of 13’11”. In the high jump, Kamrin Hunter gave the Eagles a first place finish by clearing a 5’4” height. Logan Bloir claimed second on Edon’s behalf with a 5′ jump.
Kenneth Ordway won the shot put, throwing for 42′. Ryan Gilmore placed in second for the Eagles, thanks to his toss of 38’2”. For Stryker Israel Aguilar came in third, with a throw covering 37’5”. Vincent Hutchins, of Edon, claimed the discus by launching the flat, circular object 119’4”. Ordway threw for second place at 113’10”. Gilmore narrowly overtook him at 112’4”.
Michael Brubaker earned Fayette a first place showing in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 18.9. Edon’s Bloir gave him a good race, finishing in second at 19.5. Bloir would go on to win the 300 meter hurdles, thanks to an impressive time of 49.5.
In the 100 meter dash, Brannan Woolace gave Stryker a victory, winning the race with a time of 11.9. Bloir was close behind at 12.5, good for second place, while Panther Kaid Woolace finished in third at 12.9. Alex Kirkingburg earned a first place finish in the 400 meter dash for the Bombers, completing the race in 55.7.
Skylar Lantz dominated the both the mile and two mile events. In the former, he broke the five minute mark, finishing the race in 4:55. Andrew LaDuke took second place at 5:19 for the Bombers, while Jaramillo claimed third place on Fayette’s behalf at 5:43. Lantz completed the two mile run with a time of 11:02, more than a minute before Edon’s J.J. Braun could take second place at 12:05.
Hunter would give Fayette a top finish in the 800 meter run, thanks to his time of 2:26. Coy Dunkle Jr. just missed overtaking him with a time of 2:24. LaDuke finished in third at 2:35, and Braun came in fourth at 2:38.
Edon’s numbers overwhelmed both Fayette and Stryker; the latter moreso than the former. It’s difficult to compete on a team level when one squad has a sizable advantage in membership.
