The Edgerton Board of Education met on November 20th, 2023 at 6 p.m. Board members Lyn Bowsher, Amanda Giesige, Nick Hug, Robert Siebenaler, and Bill Swank were present.
The meeting was called to order before the treasurer’s agenda was approved as presented. The superintendent’s recommendations were approved as presented, including commending the following National Honor Society inductees: Corinne Cape, Casey Everetts, Gretchen Keppeler, Keira Myers, Nessa Cox, Adyn Herman, Andy Meyer, Giselle Romero, Jay Dockery, Cory Herman, Heidi Meyer, and Dylan Saul.
All honor roll students were commended, as was everyone involved with the successful Veterans Day assembly, November 8th blood drive, and Audrey Schroeder and Grace Schroeder for their achievement of receiving the 2023 American Degree from the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
A donation of $250 was then accepted from the St. Mary Festival Committee before the Board moved on to personnel recommendations.
The substitute paraprofessional and teacher list for NwOESC and the non-renewal of the 2023-2024 fall supplemental contracts were approved before the volunteer list was approved as well.
Superintendent Kermit Riehle started then on his report, sharing that December 6th, 2023 will see a 2 hour delay for ACT prep, and February 16th, 2024 will see no school for CPI training.
The OSBA Capital Conference was held November 12-14, and the Veterans Day assembly was a huge success.
A thank you was given to the honored veterans, American Legion Post #10, and Col. Kevin Bigenho for speaking at the event.
The HVAC chiller will be installed on December 20th, and the Goebel property should see an official transfer of ownership at the end of January.
It was then shared that the new junior high study area has been finished before the Board entered into executive session, with no action taken afterwards, set to meet next on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 6 p.m.
