The Edon Village Council met for their regular session on November 20th at 7 p.m. Present were councilors David Loughborough, Jeff Pease, Brandon Thiel, Austin Thiel, Lee Lawrence, and Dan Ankney were present, as were Mayor Duane Thiel, Administrator Chad Ordway, Fiscal Officer Heidi Bidwell, and Village Solicitor Tom Thompson.

Fiscal Officer Bidwell shared a thank you note with council before the police report was given, with one part-time officer being approved for hire.

Administrator Ordway shared that the tower update is expected to go on through December, and a motion was then passed allowing him to proceed with an easement for the walking trail connecting Summit Street to the park.

Ordinance 03-23 was accepted on its third reading, allowing for the partnership between Edon and Columbus for tax collection and administration.

The materials for Phase II of the park have been ordered, and Ordinance 05-23, updating the Edon income tax code to be in compliance with HB 23, was passed as an emergency on its first reading, and Ordinance 0623, the 2024 wage ordinance, was passed as an emergency on its first reading as well.

A contract for Tom Thompson’s soliciting services was approved, with plans in the works to present an ordinance hiring him part-time instead of hourly at the next meeting.

With nothing further to address, the Edon Village Council adjourned their November meeting, set to meet next December 18th. There is also a short special meeting scheduled for December 28th at 7 p.m.
