Ned Doll (1942-2024)

(Served With U.S. Air Force During Vietnam War)

Ned E. Doll, age 82, of Oregon, OH, peacefully passed away at Kingston Residence of Sylvania, Saturday morning, February 24, 2024; where he had resided the last two years.

He was born at home in McClure, Ohio on January 22, 1942 to Earnest Doll and Marceil (Rechner) Doll.  Ned graduated from Damascus Township High School in 1960 and later graduated from Davis Business College in 1961.

He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a staff sergeant with the U.S Air Force from 1964-1968. Upon returning from his military obligation, he served in the banking profession for many years, starting with First Federal Bank in Toledo and retiring from Charter One Bank.


After retirement, Ned worked for the Toledo Blade and volunteered with the Meal on Wheels program.

He was a member of the McClure American Legion and traveled the United States and overseas, including Germany and Spain. Ned also enjoyed visiting casinos and his monthly Saturday gatherings with longtime friends.

Although never married, he loved his family and is survived by his sister, Judy (Paul) Pelton of Wauseon; nephews, John (Meghan) Pelton of Delta and Michael (Cynthia) Pelton of Delta; cousin, John (Ruth) Doll of Wapakoneta, OH and great nephews and niece, Anthony, Gracyn, Cody, and Jordon Pelton.


In honoring Ned’s wishes, there will be no public services and cremation will be entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515. A private interment will be held at Hockman Cemetery in McClure.

Those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the McClure American Legion, 230 S. East St., McClure, Ohio 43534 in his memory.
