(June 1st, 2015) – EDGERTON: After dropping game one to the Bulldogs, Pettisville regrouped for the second contest of a double header against Edgerton. While their play improved in game two, their Bulldog hosts were able to build a solid lead early, keeping control of the match-up throughout.
Pettisville lost to Edgerton 7-1.
With a strong opening to the contest, Edgerton scored 3 runs in each of the first two innings. Pettisville couldn’t keep pace, falling into an early 6-0 deficit. The Bulldogs would tack on another run to that advantage in the bottom of the third, giving them a 7-0 lead. With their backs against the wall, the Blackbirds tried to rally, getting themselves on the board in the top of the fourth. Edgerton was able to limit them to just 1 run, however, and a scoreless fifth inning led to the home team’s 6 run victory.
The hit differential between the two teams was rather narrow. Pettisville had 5 hits, opposed to the 7 earned by Edgerton. Errors were a major issue for the Blackbirds, however, as they committed 4 of them to Edgerton’s 0.
Evan King picked up the loss for Pettisville, spending just one inning at the mound. In that brief span, the senior-to-be gave up only 1 earned run from 4 hits. He also struck out 1 batter, walking another.
Landon Roth had a 2 for 3 day at the plate, hitting for a pair of singles. Evan and Dillon King each went 1 for 3 in the batter’s box, earning a single each. Christian Barhite hit a single as well, making the most of 1 out of his 2 plate appearances.
