(June 9th, 2015) – PETTISVILLE: When the Pettisville ACME team played host to Napoleon on Tuesday, June 9, they were facing off against more than just a strong opponent.  They were playing a foe in a whole other league.

Literally.

The Blackbirds, who reside in District II of the ACME Baseball leagues, knew they were stepping up in competition to take on the Wildcats, a team that makes its home in the District III, which house larger teams.  Despite the size difference between the two squads, Pettisville played with ferocity against Napoleon, throwing everything they had at the Henry County unit.

It wasn’t enough, though, as Pettisville dropped the match-up in five innings 11-0.

Napoleon spread their scoring out through the game, totaling 3 runs in the top of the first, and 2 more in each of the subsequent innings.  Their bats were live, racking up 12 hits against a solid Pettisville pitching staff.  The Blackbirds themselves only managed 1 hit.

Errors played a key role in the game as well.  Pettisville committed 3 mistakes, while the Wildcats limited their follies to a single error.  This took its toll on senior-to-be Evan King, who accepted the loss on behalf of the Blackbirds.  Of the 7 runs King gave up, only 3 of them were earned from 6 hits.

The lone hit of the game for Pettisville came from the bat of Christian Barhite.  Another rising senior, Barhite went 1 for 3 from the plate in the loss, hitting a single.
