Fayette Normal Memorial Library Events

STORY TIME – Story Time meets on Mondays for a half an hour starting at 6:30 pm. Children ages 2-5 (not yet in Kindergarten) are invited to attend, but an adult must accompany the two and three year olds. A book and craft is planned for each session. November 5 Book: Hardscrabble Harvest & Craft: Harvest Angels. November 12 Book: Turkey Surprise & Craft: Turkey Hats. There will not be a Story Time session on Monday, November 19. November 26 Book: A Tree Can Be & Craft: Button Tree.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM – Students in grades K-1 are invited to the library from 2:30-3:15 pm on Tuesdays and students in grades 2-4 are welcome on Thursdays during the same time frame. The After School Program is generously sponsored by Huntington Bank. Crafts are planned for November 6 and 8. There will be play days on November 13 and 15. There is no program planned for Tuesday, November 20 and Thursday, November 22 due to the holiday. Also, there is no program on Tuesday, November 27 because all kids are invited to attend Veterinarian Dr. Shoemaker’s program on Thursday, November 29.

TEEN READ WEEK – Teen Read Week was celebrated October 15-20. The theme was “Dare to Read for the Fun of It!” The prize winners were: Bailey Borton, who won the Hunger Games DVD and Blythe Requena, who won the Amigos Gift Certificate.

NEW BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP – Veronica Molina is planning on forming a new book discussion group in January. If you are interested in joining, please call the library or stop in at the adult circulation desk by November 30, 2012. We will then contact you with the meeting time for January. Those interested will decide on the date, time, and genre of book to be read for the February book discussion.

PAINTING CLASS – Ann Schang will be here at the Library to instruct a painting class on Monday, December 3 at 6 o’clock in the evening. The picture you will be painting will be poinsettias on canvas and the cost of the class is $10, which includes all supplies needed for the class. Participants are encouraged to wear old clothing. Please call the library or stop in at the adult circulation desk to sign up for this class.

THANK YOU – We would like to thank these individuals for their generous donations: Given by David and Cinda Metcalf in memory of Kathryn Kenbeek – The Most Scenic Drives in America by Reader’s Digest; Life 75 Years: The Very Best of Life. Given by Patricia Grover in memory of Kathryn Kenbeek – Take Me Out to the Ballpark: An Illustrated Tour of Baseball Parks Past and Present. Monetary donations will be used to purchase books given by Earl and Dee Ferguson, Tom and Kathy Fix, and Tom and Diana Evans in memory of Glennis Ferguson. Donations of children’s book were received from Tara and Bryce Conklin as well as Jennifer Gregory.

A LOOK AHEAD – The Thursdays @ 7 Book Discussion Group will meet this month on Thursday, November 15 to discuss Dry Grass of August written by Anna Mayhew. If you are interested in joining the book club, please stop by the adult circulation desk. Also, the Library will be closed on Thursday, November 22 in observance of Thanksgiving.
