The Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio approved new bed allocations for its five member counties during its July 22 meeting, with the revised numbers set to become the counties’ allocations for 2027.

Under the approved allocations, Lucas County will have 150 beds, Fulton County 52, Defiance County 60, Henry County 37, and Williams County 55.

The board is expected to discuss the per diem rate charged to member counties as part of the 2027 budget process in October.

CCNO Executive Director Dennis Sullivan also reported a facility population of 558, including 290 inmates from the five member counties and 60 detainees being housed through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The ICE arrangement continued to draw opposition, with protesters gathering outside the meeting. Several individuals sought to address the board but were not permitted to speak after their request did not meet the board’s five-business-day advance notice requirement. A motion by Lucas County Commissioner Pete Gerken to allow public participation did not receive a second.

The board also approved the purchase of personnel tracking equipment for $37,248.25. The equipment is used by corrections staff to monitor rounds and other activity within the facility.

Sullivan also provided an update on renovations to C Unit, where a plumbing issue caused flooding and damaged newly installed flooring. Despite the setback, the unit is expected to reopen around mid-August.

He also noted that CCNO was found to be 100 percent compliant with applicable standards during its recent American Correctional Association audit.

Sullivan further reported that four OPOTA-certified academies have been held at CCNO over the past 10 months, with all 25 CCNO students who participated passing.

The board later entered executive session to discuss security arrangements before adjourning.
