Fayette’s Bean Creek Valley History Center Announces New Community Event

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Bean Creek Valley History Center is excited to announce a new community event, Walktober Fayette, “Walking Thru History,” to be held on October 5th and 6th, and again on October 12th and 13th.

This unique event will offer attendees the opportunity to step back in time and explore the rich history of Fayette and its surrounding areas.

Over the course of these four days, the History Center will host 10 different presentations, each focusing on the history of a different location in and around Fayette.

Attending one or attending all presentations will provide a fascinating insight into the past, bringing the history of our community to life in a fun and engaging way.

The presentations will include:


-“My Lavender Lady”: A presentation on growing and distilling lavender plants.

-“4H Camp Palmer Tour”: A guided tour of the 4H Camp Palmer.

-“Ghost Town of Ontario”: A look into the settlement that faded away.

-“Walking up Main Street”: A journey through the years of businesses in Fayette.

“From Ticket Station to Fire Station”: A presentation on the evolution of the Fire Department over the years.


-“What’s So Normal About That Library” Changes over the years.

-“Life On Hog Island” Taming of the Black Swamp.

-“Hot Rod’n with Hal” My Love of Cars.

-“Keeping The Lights On” Tour of the Historic 1898 Fayette Opera House.

-“Gone Fishing’ At Harrison Lake” A Lake on Mill Creek.


“We are thrilled to offer this new event to our community a large” said Colleen Rufenacht, president, and curator and of the Bean Creek Valley History Center.

“We believe that understanding our past is crucial for shaping our future, and we look forward to sharing the fascinating history of Fayette and area with attendees.”

The event will feature freewill donation admission and easy parking. Attendees will receive a memento to remember the event by.

The History Center invites everyone in the community to join in this celebration of local history. Whether you are a long-time resident or new to the area. Walktober Fayette, “Walking Thru History” promises to be an enlightening and entertaining experience.
