FAYETTE (April 3, 2025) – The Pettisville Blackbirds delivered a commanding performance on Thursday evening, overpowering the Fayette Eagles in a dominant 10-0 victory in non-league baseball action.
The Blackbirds wasted no time asserting themselves, striking first in the bottom of the third inning.
Quinn Ripke ignited the offense with a line-drive double to left, bringing home Rylee Bevard to put Pettisville on the board.
Moments later, Ripke showcased his aggressive base running, stealing third and then advancing home on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 2-0.
Pettisville continued to apply pressure in the fourth inning, capitalizing on Fayette’s defensive miscues.
Creighton Aeschliman started the inning off with a hard-hit double to left and then later scored off a wild pitch. Caden Bishop later crossed home plate on a wild pitch, pushing the lead to 4-0.
Rylan Warner would follow with a score on a wild pitch as well, ending the fourth inning with a 5-0 lead. The miscues by the Eagles opened the floodgates as the Blackbirds extended their advantage.
The bottom of the fifth saw Pettisville blow the game wide open. A flurry of wild pitches and passed balls allowed multiple runners to advance, setting up Warner for an RBI single to left that plated Bishop.
Warner would advance on the base paths with multiple passed balls, eventually crossing home plate leading to a mercy rule victory, 10-0.
On the mound, Luke Horning delivered a stellar outing for Pettisville, stifling the Fayette lineup with a dominant pitching performance.
He racked up seven strikeouts and consistently kept the Eagles off balance, securing the no-hitter in a five inning performance.
With a solid all-around performance, Pettisville cruised to the shutout victory, controlling the game both at the plate and on the mound.
