The grounds of Northwest State Community College came alive this past Saturday, June 21, as more than 140 people gathered for the second annual NAMIWalks event, a community-driven effort dedicated to raising awareness for mental health.

Participants walked not only to show their support but to stand together as a symbol of hope, healing, and unity.

Organized by NAMI Four County, the walk welcomed individuals, families, and community leaders, each with their own story and reason for showing up.

Among those in attendance were NAMI Greater Toledo Executive Director Marriah Kornowa and Ohio State Representative Jim Hoops, both lending their voices in support of mental health advocacy.

Now in its second year, NAMIWalks has quickly become more than just a fundraiser. It’s a celebration of resilience and a reminder that no one has to face mental health challenges alone.

The event emphasizes connection through shared stories, aiming to build a stronger, stigma-free community, one conversation at a time.

Throughout the day, attendees had access to a variety of mental health resources offered by local organizations and NAMI partners. Vendors and food trucks added to the festive atmosphere, while raffle prizes, auction items, and a bounce house gave families plenty to enjoy.

With its motto of “a walk with no finish line,” NAMIWalks represents endless possibilities and fresh starts made possible through NAMI’s free programs and ongoing support. For many, it’s not just a walk, it’s a step toward hope.
