Experience Fall At Sauder Village This October

Archbold, OH – Sauder Village is jam-packed with fall fun this October, including new and returning themed weeks in the Historic Village, tasty dining experiences, family-friendly Halloween events and more.

“Come experience the beauty of Sauder Village this month as the leaves change and crops are harvested,” said Marketing Manager Olivia Hennessey.

“With the return of beloved events like Vintage Base Ball Tournament, Eerie Nights and Woodcarver’s Show, plus perfect camping weather and delicious fall treats at the Doughbox, October is one of the best months to visit the Sauder Village complex.”

Sport and Play Week – Oct. 1–4
October comes out swinging with Sport and Play Week in the Historic Village, Oct. 1-4.

Guests can learn about the history of popular games from the mid-1800s to the 1920s while playing with board games, yard games and toys from the past.


Vintage Base Ball Tournament – Oct. 4
The grand finale of Sport and Play Week is the annual Vintage Base Ball Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 4. See America’s pastime played using rules from the 1800s. The three-team tournament features the Sauder Village Windmills, the Elkhart County Railroaders and the Black Swamp Frogs. Games will be at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

National Cinnamon Roll Day – Oct. 4
Also on Oct. 4, Celebrate the autumn season with tasty, giant cinnamon rolls at the Doughbox Bakery in honor of National Cinnamon Roll Day. The bakery will offer six cinnamon rolls for $11.50.

Seven specialty flavors will be available, plus classic flavors of vanilla, maple and cream cheese frosted. Bring the whole family for fun fall activities for kids on the Doughbox lawn and remember to place advanced orders by calling the bakery at 419.445.0321.


Apple Week – Oct. 8–11
Experience the sights and smells of fall at the Historic Village during Apple Week, Oct. 8-11. Guests can explore autumn farm life, watch apple cider pressing on an old-fashioned cider press and see demonstrations of traditional apple recipes. With plenty of hands-on activities, it’s a perfect way to celebrate the harvest.

Scout Day – Oct. 11
Scouts are invited to wear their uniforms and enjoy discounted admission to Sauder Village on Oct. 11 for Scout Day. Scouts are $10 and Scout Leaders are $14 when wearing uniform or showing scout cards.

BBQ Buffet – Oct. 24
Rounding out the month is a delicious BBQ Buffet at the Barn Restaurant on Friday, Oct. 24. Guests can enjoy a buffet featuring pulled pork, ribs, brisket, beans, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, salad bar and more.


Eerie Nights — Oct. 24 & 25
Get into the Halloween spirit with Eerie Nights, a not-so-spooky after-hours event on Friday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 25.

This fun and family-friendly celebration of the season offers festive fall activities and a glimpse at Halloween traditions from a century ago. Guests are invited to wear their best costumes for tricks and treats on 1920s Main Street. Tickets are available at saudervillage.org.

Woodcarver’s Show and Sale – Oct. 24–25
Those looking for the best in wood artistry can find it in Founder’s Hall on Oct. 24 and 25 during the annual Woodcarver’s Show and Sale. With demonstrations, vendors and more, there’s a lot to get excited about.

The show floor will be open from 10am – 5pm both Friday and Saturday. Historic Village guests can explore the Woodcarver’s Show and Sale for the day at no additional cost. Those only coming to the Woodcarver’s Show can enjoy a discount with $10 Show-Only Admission.

Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre — Oct. 31–Nov. 1
Step back into the Roaring Twenties for a night of mystery, laughter and plenty of surprises as Archbold Community Theatre presents Funeral for a Gangster, an audience participation murder mystery where guests will have the opportunity to put their sleuthing skills to the test.

The evening includes a delicious buffet-style meal and cash bar at the 1920s Theater and Speakeasy. Wearing 1920s-inspired attire is encouraged with a prize for best dressed. Tickets are available at saudervillage.org.


October is also the last opportunity for camping at the Sauder Village Campground this season, open through Nov. 1. Call 419-445-6408 to book today!
