The Holiday City Planning Commission met on Thursday, October 16, discussing zoning for heavy industries in the village.

Committee members present were village administrator Blair Campbell, Pamela Clark, and Shawn Clark. The meeting got underway at 5:30 p.m.

Discussion was centered around zoning ordinance I-3, which is designated for heavy industry.

Among the local industries that qualify under this proposed zoning ordinance district are Wieland Chase Brass, Menards, and 20/20 Custom Plastics, all of which are classified under heavy industry.

Other industries that could fall under the zoning ordinance include transportation, wholesale or warehousing activities, transport or trucking terminals, public service facilities, manufacturing, sale and storage of building materials, and light manufacturing.

“In the next meeting, we can write up from these last discussions on what we have or what we want in them,” said Pamela Clark. “We’ll have a master list for all of us.”

The planning commission also discussed preparing a list of zoning ordinances and a zoning map for future presentations to the public.

“We’re going to eventually need to have presentation maps,” said Pamela Clark. “I don’t think that’s something that we’re going to decide just like that.

“Let’s have it on the agenda to talk about each time, and that maybe we can find out how we’re going to get them or how we’re going to present them.”

The meeting was adjourned at 6:11 p.m., and the Planning Commission will again meet on Thursday, October 30, at 5:30 p.m.
