STRYKER – Jack Leppelmeier became just the 11th player in Pettisville boys basketball history to score 1,000 career points as the 6-2 senior standout scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 49-26 non-league win over Stryker.
The Blackbirds (2-0) had trailed 8-5 after the opening quarter, but then soared past the Panthers outscoring them, 31-7, in the middle two quarters.
Alex Galvin contributed with nine points for Pettisville and Ryan Bishop tallied eight points and five rebounds.
The Blackbirds were 21 of 45 for 47% from the floor, but 4 of 10 from the stripe. They outrebounded Stryker, 25-20, and committed fewer turnovers, 16-9.
William Donovan led Stryker (1-1) with 13 points. The Panthers were 10 of 37 for 27% from the floor and 5 of 11 from the line.
