MONTPELIER – Montpelier avenged last year’s Division VII district semifinal defeat to Edgerton as the Locos throttled the Bulldogs, 72-24, in “The Railyard”.
The outcome was decided early with the Locos (4-0) steamrolling out to a decisive 25-6 first quarter lead and stretching it to 42-13 at halftime.
C.J. Fidler was one of four Montpelier players in double figures as the sophomore poured in 23 points, including six trifectas. Kenneth Smeltzer followed with 19 points with Hayden Sharps adding 12 points, and Wesley Hartsock tallied 10 points.
Kellen Sanchez topped Edgerton (3-2) with eight points.
