The Stryker Local Board of Education held its regular meeting on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. to meet with a representative of the Ohio School Boards Association and discuss ongoing mid-school-year affairs.
All members were in attendance, including President Brent Froelich, Emily Clemens, Sharon vonSeggern, Chase Stuckey, and Dan Hughes.
Following roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance, the Board approved the presented agenda. The previous meeting minutes were also reviewed and passed.
President Froelich presented a plaque honoring Clemens’s official last meeting while serving on the board, noting five and a half years of service.
“Your commitment and support have made a meaningful and lasting impact on our students,” stated Froelich.
Marty Rothey, region manager of the Northwest Ohio School Board Association’s District, joined the meeting to introduce herself and update the board on the services they offer.
Rothey serves 20 counties in the northwest area, which includes a total of 143 school districts.
“What I love about our region is that we are so diverse. We are a mixture of a large city and a majority of rural districts. So, it’s my job to try to represent our region at the state level,” Rothey explained.
She informed the board of some of the responsibilities and aid she can provide through the facility. “We hope you will continue to look upon us as an advocate for school boards in our state.”
Most notably, Rothey attended the meeting to present two veteran school board member certificates to the Stryker School Board, for Brent Froelich and Dan Hughes. “(The certificate) is for serving ten consecutive years on your board,” she said, “and it’s strange to have two members receive this award at once.
“It really strengthens your board when you have members that have that historical perspective of your district – it truly does help your community.”
The Treasurer and CFO financial reports for the month of November were presented by the new treasurer, Nathan French. He reported several donations as follows:
-$200 from the Williams County Beef Producers to the FFA
-$500 from David Kubicki to the athletic department
-$15,000 from an anonymous donor ($4,000 for the cross country team and $11,000 for the FFA Club).
Additional financial items on the agenda included approval of “Then and Now” certificates for expenditures related to yearbooks, an elementary roofing project, and athletic training devices.
French also recommended increasing the athletic petty checking account balance, moving funds into the PI construction fund, and approving Jackie Holsopple as an event worker for the 2025-2026 school year.
Elementary Principal Kallie Gensler reported that the Crazy Coin Day successfully raised $3,800 for Christmas for Kids.
The school was able to provide a Christmas Shop and donated to families in need, alongside help from the High School Student Council.
She noted that December 22, 2025, marks the first day of winter break, ending on January 2, 2026. The school spelling bee was scheduled for January 7, 2026.
JH/HS Principal Jamie Grime updated the board that the first semester was ending on December 18, 2025. The FFA fundraiser was completed with a total of $23,510 in funds.
Superintendent Nate Johnson included personnel recommendations for approving the 2025-2026 event workers and supplemental contracts for the upcoming school year.
The agenda also scheduled the January 2026 organizational meeting, set for January 12, 5:15 p.m., with a regular board meeting to follow.
Dan Hughes was nominated to serve as President Pro-Tem for the January 2026 organizational meeting.
A hearing was scheduled for several retire and rehire contracts on the same date, taking place at 5:00 p.m.
Johnson provided updates on the ongoing Ag. Tech addition and courtyard infill. He explained that painting was underway for the Ag. Tech building, while the courtyard was going to be installing electrical wiring for lights in the coming weeks. “We’re getting closer,” he affirmed.
With no further business, the December 2025 Stryker School Board meeting adjourned at 5:56 p.m.
