In retirement, Dwight and Mary Kay moved to Bryan, Ohio, where they were members of Pulaski United Methodist Church. Mary Kay was a devoted fan of Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates.

She loved getting lost in a good book and was an active member of several book clubs in Pittsburgh. She also enjoyed shopping with friends and always took pride in being dressed for any occasion.
