Donna Fay Smith, 80, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio, with her family by her side.
Donna was born on May 27, 1945, in Corbin, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Roger T. and Nancy A. (Terry) Husted. She was a 1963 graduate of Hicksville High School.
On Oct. 11, 1964, she married the love of her life, Rolland L. “Ron” Smith, in Hicksville, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2003. She later married James “Jim” Siler on May 4, 2019, in Hicksville, and he survives.
After raising her children and dedicating herself to her family as a homemaker, Donna returned to school and earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Northwest Technical College. She then went on to work as a nurse with CHP In-Home Health.
Donna was baptized as an infant at St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville and later became a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Hicksville.
She was actively involved in her community, belonging to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Farmer American Legion Post 137 Ladies Auxiliary, and the La Fleur De Terre Garden Club. Donna loved to sing and was blessed with a beautiful voice.
She shared her gift through a music ministry in the 1980s, even releasing an album titled Brand New Touch. Above all, Donna enjoyed being a Ma-Maw and cheering on her children and grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband, James “Jim” Siler of Hicksville; three children, Jeffrey (Janet) Smith of Edgerton, Ohio, Melanie (Jeffrey) Beverly of Hicksville, and Dawn (Eric) Woolace of West Unity, Ohio; six grandchildren, Katelyn (Jacob Thompson) Smith, Karrie Smith, Jeffrey Rolland Smith, Brannan Woolace, Payton Woolace, and Sage Woolace; two great-grandchildren, Camreigh and Jennex; and a brother, Terry P. (Dawne Beverly) Husted of Bradenton, Florida.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Rolland L. “Ron” Smith; and a brother, Bruce W. Husted.
Visitation for Donna Fay Smith will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 3-8 p.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 Antwerp Drive, Hicksville, with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. There will be an additional hour of visitation at the church prior to the start of the Mass. Burial will follow in Farmer Cemetery.
