The Metamora Village Council met for its regular session on Monday, April 6, 2026. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by approval of the minutes from the March 16 meeting.
Administrator Report
During review of the administrator’s report, presented by the mayor in the administrator’s absence, council heard that village officials do not believe it is necessary to renew the Ixom/SolarBees contract at the lagoons due to increased pricing and the simplicity of maintenance on the unit. Officials plan to look into other options.

Council also learned that IAMGIS lowered its quote from $2,500 per year to $1,000 per year for placing the village’s infrastructure records into electronic format, with further discussion expected.
Other updates included completion of repairs to the Swanton Street walking bridge, a quote of $11,600 to replace 14 ADA pads on village sidewalks and bring curbs and ramps up to standards, and ongoing efforts to explore grant funding for that work.
Unsafe monkey bars were removed from the park, and a maintenance worker will be assigned primarily to park duties during the summer season.
The shop awning has also been repaired, office lighting has been updated, and an electrical study was completed at the park.
A quote is expected for electrical upgrades and repairs there, with officials noting the work could qualify for a 30-year low-interest loan and would not necessarily need to be completed all at once.
Mayor’s Report
The mayor’s report included an update on the village’s comprehensive plan, with the steering committee recently reviewing a draft and determining that it needs to be more detailed.
The mayor said concerns were shared with the person preparing the draft. Council also discussed the annual January review of outside committee members, with any future changes to be recommended by the mayor and approved by council. An update was also given on efforts to set up Starlink service at the park.
Fiscal
In fiscal matters, council confirmed that eight people will attend the Fulton County Economic Development Corporation annual banquet on behalf of the village on April 14.
Council also approved the destruction of old checks from the village’s former GAS accounting and payroll system, specifically check numbers 25936 through 26379, and authorized payment of bills.
Old Business
Under old business, council approved an $11,700 bid from GT Contracting to crack seal Reading, Harvest, Elm, Oak, Dogwood, and County Road 2.
Council also approved standards for underground fiber optic, conduit, and cable installation in public rights of way as referenced in the zoning code.
Another approved action was the decision not to renew the Ixom/SolarBees maintenance contract, which expires May 1.

Council members were also informed that a representative from InnovaTek will attend the April 20 meeting at 6 p.m. to help set up new village email accounts, and that no committee meeting will be held that night.
It was also noted that the EYA has signed a contract with the village for the upcoming ball season.
Earlier conversations centered on concerns raised by the Evergreen Youth Association over being expected to cover ball field preparation costs while no longer controlling the concession stand, which had served as a fundraiser to help offset those expenses.
Village officials had previously said the concession stand was taken back because of reliability and oversight concerns, to ensure someone was responsible whenever games or other activities were taking place at the park.

During the March 16 meeting, council approved an updated agreement under which EYA would oversee the concession stand while village maintenance workers would handle ball diamond preparation, pending discussion with the organization.
With council now reporting that a contract has been signed for the upcoming season, the matter appears to have moved forward toward a workable arrangement between both sides.
New Business
Under new business, council raised no objections to the renewal of retail liquor permits in the village.
A special meeting was then scheduled for 6 p.m. on May 4 at the Village Office to discuss zoning updates and comments from public hearings.

Discussion also took place regarding movie night. Council approved the purchase of a tripod, a new speaker system, and a Blu-ray player for about $500.
Officials said a projector is also needed, but they want to continue researching options and pricing for one that can be used during daylight hours.
Council adjourned at 7:43 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2026, at 7 p.m.
