WEALTH MANAGEMENT … Tim Whetro, center, from Whetro Wealth Management in Toledo, a Montpelier High School alumnus, was guest speaker for the April 13 general meeting of Parkview-Montpelier Hospital Auxiliary. Shown with him are Auxiliary “Pink Ladies” Jean Scott, left, and Jill Beck, right, who presented him with an appreciation gift on behalf of the auxiliary.

Timothy L. Whetro, CFP, Investment Advisory Representative for Whetro Wealth Management in Toledo, was guest speaker for the April 13 general meeting of Parkview-Montpelier Hospital Auxiliary. Auxiliary President Elaine Willibey called the meeting to order at 1 p.m. in the hospital’s large conference room. She welcomed everyone and led all in the auxiliary prayer.

Mr. Whetro, a Montpelier native and MHS alumnus, was the guest of Jill Beck, auxiliary program committee member. He began his career over three decades ago working for a Prudential insurance agency.

After eight years with that agency, he made the transition to an independent agent. As an independent Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Tim explained that Whetro Wealth Management is a fiduciary, not a stock brokerage, meaning its focus is on comprehensive financial planning, assisting individuals in their personal planning for investments, finances, insurance and taxes.

A fiduciary is legally required to act in a client’s best interest, minimizing conflicts and offering full disclosure.

Investment portfolio strategies are built regarding an investor’s financial goals with personalized advice.

Whetro uses holistic comprehensive wealth planning which includes retirement and income planning, tax-aware investment strategies, insurance and risk management coordination, and estate and legacy planning collaboration. Investments are evaluated based on one’s entire “financial picture.”

A top priority for the Whetro firm is transparency for the client’s investments, costs and changes with continuous communication and a straightforward advisory fee structure.

Flexible and unbiased investment solutions are sought (for clients) by experienced advisors using long-term perspective focusing on long-term outcome.

Following his presentation, Mr. Whetro addressed questions and discussion on such topics as AI, virtual currency, cash vs. debit or credit card use, and possible investment in purchasing gold.

Examples were given regarding effects on the stock market. The auxiliary thanks Mr. Whetro for his informative talk and presented him with an appreciation gift for joining us.

After the program, Auxiliary President Elaine Willibey continued the meeting with Thought for the Day: “A sign in a store window: Use our easy credit plan—100% down, nothing to pay each month.”

Donations were accepted for the “pig” and “mile of pennies” collections. Roll call was answered to “Have you ever planted a garden and what is your favorite thing to grow?”

Reports were given by Secretary Connie Dunseth, Treasurer Joyce Schelling and Historian Ruth Cooley. Linda Dilworth supplied patient favors for April, and the auxiliary will provide flowers for May patient favors.

Nominating Committee members Armeda Sawmiller and Jill Beck announced the slate of officers for the 2026-2027 year as follows: President Lynn Watson, Vice President Linda Thornton, Secretary Connie Dunseth and Treasurer Joyce Schelling. Election of officers will be held at the May 11 general meeting.

Jr. Past President Linda Dilworth, Silent Auction Committee chairman, reported a successful project on March 30 and thanked all who donated items for the auction and those who supported this endeavor. A total of 64 items were included in the bidding and surpassed last year’s totals.

The auxiliary’s annual Staff Appreciation Day is scheduled Monday, May 4, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the large conference room with a snack buffet and punch provided for the entire hospital staff.

A signup sheet was passed for donations of ready-to-serve food items by auxiliary members, needed on site by noon. Flyers promoting observance of Nurses’ Week May 6-12 are posted by the auxiliary on the hospital bulletin boards.

An update was given regarding plans for the auxiliary’s entry for this year’s Montpelier Bean Days Festival Parade Saturday, July 18, at 6 p.m.

President Elaine noted that auxiliary members will be needed as riders and/or walkers with the entry vehicle. A signup sheet for this will be passed at the May and June meetings.

Auxiliary members were informed of the passing of life member M. Jean Darby March 31 (Krill Funeral Home obituary on website). Memorials may be given to Williams County Fair Foundation or West Unity Presbyterian Church.

Sara Dye, Parkview Hospital liaison for the auxiliary, has contacted the therapy department regarding specific equipment needs for which the auxiliary may approve financial donation.

President Elaine has been invited as speaker for the auxiliary at the Montpelier Senior Center Wednesday, May 27, at 10:30 a.m. Other auxiliary members are welcome to attend.

Mary Stoller – Shane Sumner

Discussion was held concerning the June 8 noon luncheon meeting at First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier.

The meal will be catered by Susie’s Lunch of Bryan, and reservations are necessary. Installation of officers and candlelight memorial ceremony are planned. All auxiliary members are invited to attend at no additional fee.

The next general meeting of the auxiliary will be Monday, May 11, at 1 p.m. in the hospital conference room. Guest speaker will be Lisa Siler, Site Manager for the Montpelier Senior Center.

Roll call will be “What’s your favorite senior activity?” Election of officers is scheduled and a signup sheet will be passed for the June 8 luncheon reservations. Guests are welcome at all auxiliary meetings.
