Superior Township Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, June 16 with Mike Trausch, Dan Gillen, and Jacob Borton in attendance. Road Supervisor Cody Boyd was also present while Fiscal Officer Vanessa Shepard was absent.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited followed by the approval of the June 2 meeting minutes.
Trustees discussed refacing two entrance signs with veneered stone at Riverside Cemetery.
The project, which will cost $14,000 including material and labor from Fackler Monument Company of Montpelier, will also remove the existing limestone cap and replace it with a new one.
Further action was tabled until the next meeting in July, but the trustees could be looking at possibly obtaining a grant for the entrance signs.
The existing name plate and donation plate on the current signs will remain in place.
In old business, trustees discussed doing paving work on a small portion of Circle Boulevard. The engineer’s estimate for the work is $7,317.50.
Boyd had previously contacted M&M Asphalt of Edon multiple times, and they haven’t responded back in doing the paving project.
He plans to contact them on Wednesday and will update the county on the situation.
In new business, it was suggested to install a “stop ahead sign” at the corner of County Road 8-50 south of County Road I. It will be placed 250 feet away from the stop sign.
Borton reported he had a couple of township residents addressing their concerns about two camping trailers that people are presently living in and asking if there is anything the township can do.
Gillen added that the Williams County Health Department is aware of the situation.
Following the approval to pay the bills, the meeting was adjourned at 4 p.m. Next meeting is Tuesday, July 7 at 3:30 p.m.
