April 20, 2016Updated:November 30, 2016No Comments2 Mins Read

4.7.16 Scholarship WEBARCHBOLD, OHIO –The Northwest State Community College Foundation awarded a record $375,00 in scholarships to 200 students from throughout northwest Ohio.

Thursday, April 8th students and donors filled the NSCC Atrium as they met and celebrated the accomplishments of the students and the support of local donors.

“Northwest State students work diligently to balance school, family and work,” according to Robbin Wilcox, NSCC director of development.

“The generous support of our donors not only helps students financially, but also reinforces their efforts that school is the right choice to improve their future.”

Michael Shadbolt is one of those students, and he was selected to share his personal journey to higher education. A single father, who at one time dropped out of high school, Michael told the crowd of over 450 people how he is working to be the first in his family to attain a college degree and to change not only his life, but also the future for his family.

This year marks a record year for the NSCC Foundation, in terms of both the dollars awarded as well as the number of scholarships offered.

“The Foundation makes a concerted effort each year to increase funding to support our students through both scholarships and efforts to provide state of the art training equipment,” noted Wilcox. “The Foundation is not only giving more scholarships than ever before, they are also helping the College to develop and expand programs that will help students today and in the future.”
