Fulton County will embark on a comparison of different companies abilities to process EMS billing with an eye on whether it will cheaper than doing it in house.

The Board of Commissioners voted 2-1 to approve a motion authorizing the comparison. Board President Paul Barnaby cast the dissenting vote.

The study came after Wauseon Fire Chief Rick Sluder and his Archbold counterpart Andy Broadbeck approached the board and made the request. The chiefs stated the study was strictly to see if a private company could do the job and save the county money.

There is no accusation of wrongdoing by the county department, Sluder said. He said this was not a reflection on Director Jodi Tuckerman, just a way to see if there is a better way.

The county has been doing the billing in-house for 15 years. Tuckerman has since submitted her resignation, effective Sept. 16.

There will be no cost for the comparison studies.

The Fulton County Sheriff more than $88,000 in court costs, fees and fines, according to a report submitted to the Board of County Commissioners.

The report covers the time period from September 2015 through August 2016. Sheriff Roy Miller submitted the report and the commissioners reviewed it Sept. 6.

Court costs accounted for most of the revenue collected at $87,602.06. June saw the most money collected with $13,513.50.

DUI fines brought in $458, while drug fines stood at $175.

All money collected was paid over to the county treasurer.

In other news, the commissioners approved advertising for a Senior Center Administrative Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator.

The pays $12 an hour and resumes and applications should be sent to Fulton County Senior Center, Attention: Sheri Rychener, 240 Clinton St., Wauseon, OH 43567.

The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Sept. 20.
