The village of Archbold is still working with the state on the feasibility of shifting SR 66 to CR 24 to remove heavy trucks from downtown.
At a recent committee meeting, it was learned German Township opposes the shift.
Tetra Tech was to have completed the feasibility study by Sept. 13 and is working on designs for ditches and pavement.
The village’s Finance Committee has been working with developers on ways to promote residential construction. Proposals include having the village pick up 20 percent of infrastructure costs and a portion for curb and gutter.
The goal is to develop medium price housing for people who want to work for area businesses.
Developers are concerned about having to sit on land for a lengthy period of time, the economy going south and separating from German Township.
Council affirmed the appointment of Michael Short as superintendent of the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
The village will be advertising for sealed bids to replace an existing sewer interceptor.
The project will begin at the Waste Water Treatment Plant and run 1/8 of mile to the Norfolk Southern Railroad line. The projected cost is $1 million.
The state will spend $275,000 to help with the cost.
The Police Department responded to 163 calls for service in August, down from 203 in July. Traffic patrols made one arrest.
The Fulton County Board of Commissioner will hold a public hearing on a petition for boundary conformity by the village at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 in the commissioners’ chambers at the county building at 152 S. Fulton.
The Council approved an increase in the clothing allowance for employees to $400 per year. The departments affected include Streets, Parks, Wastewater, Water and Engineering.
