Fulton County went totally Republican Nov. 8, giving Donald Trump a solid win over Democratic Party challenger Hillary Clinton.
Nearly 73 percent of the county’s voters showed up to cast a ballot.
Trump received 13,419 votes or 64.1 percent compared to 5,981 votes for Clinton (28.57 percent). Trump won all 36 precincts.
Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson received 993 votes (4.74 percent), There were 242 write-ins votes for 1 percent. The Green Party’s Jill Stein received 162 votes.
Statewide, Trump won Ohio with 52 percent of the vote. Clinton had 44 percent and Johnson 3 percent.
For U.S. Senator, Fulton County followed the state in choosing Rob Portman to go to Washington. Portman got 58 percent of the Ohio vote, but 70 percent in Fulton.
In the 5th Congressional District, the county favored Rob Latta over James Neu by a 3-to-1 margin and that nearly reflected the district totals (71-29).
In the 47th House District, Fulton County favored Derek Merrin (R) with 71.54 percent. Merrin won the district 61-39 percent over Lauri Cooper.
In the 81st House District, Republican Robert McColley ran uncontested.
In the 2nd State Senate race, Randy Gardner (R) easily won re-election over Kirk Halliday 67-33 percent. In Fulton County, Gardner won 77-23 percent.
For commissioner, Republican Joe Rupp defeated Democrat Jeffrey A. Mazurowski 13,150 to 6,599.
As for ballot initiatives, Metamora voters approved an 0.5 mill for parks 57.55 percent for to 42.55 against. Delta voters approved Local Option 109 with 77.06 in support.
Royalton Township approved a renewal of 1.7 mills for fire protection.73-27 percent.
Clinton Township voters rejected a proposal repeal zoning 62-38 percent.
Voters supported the Four County Joint Vocational School District 55-45.
Swanton voters passed the library millage renewal 73-27. A similar margin was found in Wauseon for a renewal of that town’s library millage renewal.
As far as overall turnout, 72.93 percent of registered voters turned out (21,181 out of 29,043) county wide in 36 precincts.

It was much the same in Williams County with Republicans making a clean sweep of the contested races.
In the presidential race, Williams County gave Trump had 69.11 percent of the vote compared to Clinton’s 25.31 percent. Johnson had just over 4 percent.
In the race for U.S. Senate, Portman received 72 percent in Williams County.
For the U.S House, Bob Latta defeated James Neu Jr., with nearly 79 percent of the vote.
For county commissioners, in Williams County, Terry Rummel defeated Rodney Miller 64.37 percent to 35.63 percent.
In Williams County, results for ballot proposals were as follows.
Tax levy renewals were approved in Brady, Bridgewater and Madison townships, Central Local School District, Florence Township and Edon Village.
Tax levy replacements were approved in Florence, Northwest,.
Additional tax levies were approved in Springfield Township (by 30 votes), Superior Township, Four County Joint Vocational School District, Williams County, and another for Williams County including a renewal and increase.
