A high school class on financial management went to the guru of living within one’s means when it took a trip to Michigan to listen to Dave Ramsey.
The trip was a weekend excursion to Grand Rapids to soak in the wisdom of America’s leading voice on budgeting and planning. The Fayette class uses Ramsey’s materials for its curriculum.
Principal Jon Molter raved about the weekend and what the students got out of it.
“Our kids represented us well,” Molter said. “The kids were into it the whole time.”
Since the class uses Ramsey’s materials, event organizers secured seating in the balcony for the class.
One real-world lesson the students learned was getting back home at 2 a.m. on a Monday morning and still having to go to school on time later in the morning.
The district is looking to fill the few remaining openings at its Preschool for 4-year-olds. The district limited the preschool to 4-year-olds this year and still managed to fill 20 of the 24 spots.
The district is offering incentives such as discounted tuition for staff and for referrals.
The board of education approved Indoor Track as a club sport.
The final coaches for spring sports were hired Nov. 15, making it one of the earliest time ever to have the coaches lined up and approved, Superintendent Erik Belcher said.
Molter said for Staff Appreciation Day, teachers who were at the school last year will get new long-sleeved shirts with the school colors. New teachers will get the short and long-sleeved shirts.
“This year will be a more wintry type of clothes,” Molter said.
