Saturday, January 14 Scoring Summaries

BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL

Swanton 52, Lake 41

In a non-league contest the Bulldogs improved to 4-8 on the season with the win. Gunnar Oakes led Swanton with 22 points.

Edgerton 48, Pettisville 37

After a 21-20 Pettisville lead at the break, the Bulldogs (6-5, 0-2) rolled to a 28-16 second half advantage for the non-conference win. Brayden Cape led Edgerton with 15 points while Carter Knecht and Dustin Miller added 11 and 10 points in the win. Canidate Vickery finished with 10 points for the Blackbirds (7-5, 5-2).

Archbold 55, Ottawa Hills 46

The Bluestreaks (9-2, 1-0) used five three pointers to guide them to the non-league win. Bryce Williams and Rigo Ramos led with 12 points apiece. Caleb Wooley finished with 10 points. The Streaks were good on five shots from beyond the arc.

Hilltop 66, Hicksville 57

Quinn Smith exploded for 30 points including three makes from three-point land to guide the Cadets (11-1, 7-0) to the non-conference win. Ryan Brooker and Tim Maneval added 15 and 12 points in the win. Maneval joined Smith as a member of Hilltop’s 1000-point club during the contest.

Pettisville 25, Edgerton 24

After Edgerton was a 14-13 leader at the half, the Blackbirds won the second half 12-10 to escape with the win. Mitchell Avina and Joel Flory paced Pettisville to their fifth win with eight points apiece.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL

Montpelier 38, Pettisville 17

8th grade – The Locomotives struggled with just 11 points in the second half, but their 27 first half points led them to the victory. Bumb and Fritsch led Montpelier with 14 and 13 points respectively. The Blackbirds were led by Kearsten Zuver, Elise Hartzler and Grace Schnitkey with four points apiece.

Pettisville 24, Montpelier 10

7th grade – The Blackbirds used 12 points in each half to win the BBC contest. Three Pettisville players led in scoring with eight points apiece including Addison Moyer, Karsyn Hostetler and Karsen Pursel. Page led Montpelier with 10 points.

Hilltop 47, Stryker 9

7th grade – By half time the Cadets had built up a 27-3 advantage on way to the win. Lana Baker led Hilltop with 12 points. Brianna Breier led Stryker with five points.

Hilltop 34, Stryker 21

Starkweather & Sons

8th grade – It was a 19-7 advantage after the first quarter that allowed the Cadets to end up with the 13-point victory. Barnum and Brenner led the Cadet attack with 11 and 10 points respectively. Kinsey Myers finished with 11 points for Stryker.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS BASKETBALL

Edon 41, North Central 32

7th grade – North Central was led by Mason Sanford with 10 points. Zack Hayes and Colton Hicks both scored seven and Tucker Beres and Sammy Wheeler added four points apiece.

North Central 33, Edon 28  (2OT)

Jj Winn

8th grade – North Central was led by Roman Sutton with 10 points, Ben Turner and Luke Zuver added seven points apiece.

Pettisville 34, Montpelier 26 (OT)

7th grade – This BBC game went back and forth as the Locomotives led at the break 14-9. After the fourth quarter was tied at 26-26, the Blackbirds used an 8-0 run in the extra session to gain the win. Zakkai Kaufmann led Pettisville with 18 points while Everett Lashaway was the top scorer for Montpelier with 12 points.
