Friday, January 27 Scoring Summaries

BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL

North Central 65, Edon 51

The Eagles (5-11, 3-5) broke open the game by the half as they led 35-13 at the break. North Central was led by Josh Roesener with 21 points and team mate Steven Williams added 12 points. Despite the loss Braden Miller scored 20 points for the Bombers (2-12, 1-8) while Austin Kiess added 11 and Bauer finished with 10.

Pettisville 66, Montpelier 64

In this exciting BBC battle the two teams slugged it out and both exploded for 52 fourth quarter points that resulted in a slim two-point win for the Blackbirds. Pettisville (10-5, 7-2) finished with three players in double figures as Gabe Beck led with 21 points, Justin Rupp added 16 and Jacoby Graeme finished with 10. The Locos (8-7, 4-5) also had a trio of players in double figures with Michael Blake finishing with 24, Kolden Uribes 19 and Colin Rockey 11.

Hilltop 64, Styrker 56

The Panthers (4-11, 3-5) made up for a sluggish six-point second quarter performance with 26 in the final period, but it was not enough as the Cadets rolled to their 13th win in 14 games. The Cadets (13-1, 9-0) finished with four players in double figures as Quinn Smith led with 14, Ryan Brooker added 12, Tim Maneval contributed with 11 and Kohl Collins had 10. Stryker’s Chase Glock led all scorers with 17 while Colton Benson finished with 15 and Izayah Ferguson broke into double figures with 11.

Swanton 56, Evergreen 48 (OT)

Gunnar Oakes added his name to the 1000-point club to the Bulldogs and to the NWOAL list Friday night with the NWOAL win.  Oakes led all scorers with 35 points including 17 that he scored in the fourth quarter and overtime session combined. Zach Dziengelewski added 13 points in support for Swanton (6-9, 1-2). Mason Loeffler paced Evergreen (7-9, 0-3) with 19 points.

Archbold 67, Patrick Henry 40

The Bluestreaks (10-4, 2-1) got back to winning in the NWOAL with the lopsided win over the Patriots. Bryce Williams finished with 28 points including seven makes from beyond the arc to guide the Streaks to the win. Alex Vanderbussche led Patrick Henry (4-8, 1-2) with 16 points.

Wauseon 59, Bryan 33

The Indians’ (13-1, 3-0) Big Red Machine kept rolling with their third NWOAL win against no losses with the big home win over the Golden Bears (9-6, 2-1). After a competitive first half that saw Wauseon lead 21-20 at the break, the Indians put the game away in the third quarter with a 15-9 advantage and rolled in the fourth quarter to the easy win. Carter Bzovi was the spark for the Indians in this battle as the senior scored when Wauseon needed it most and led the team with 19 points. Owen Newlove, playing a key role, added 12 and Brooks Gype added 10. Three players scored for Bryan but the bulk of the load was carried by Zhane Cupp who finished with 23 as the game’s high scorer.

BOYS JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL

North Central 47, Edon 30

The Bomber held a 24-21 lead as the first half came to an end, but were held to just six second half points as the Eagles ran away with the BBC victory. Levi Williams paced North Central with 14 points while Jack Bailey added 10. Nathan Myers scored 13 to lead the Bombers.

Pettisville 34, Montpelier 31 (OT)

The Blackbirds (9-6, 7-2) outscored the Locos 10-7 in the overtime to pull out the BBC win.

Stryker 38, Hilltop 24

Sampson led the Panthers with 12 points in the BBC win. The trio of Easton Heer, Skyler Butterfield and Christian McKinney led Hilltop with six points apiece.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS BASKETBALL

Evergreen 56, Pettisville 13

The Vikings erupted to a 19-1 first quarter lead and cruised to the lopsided non-league win. Loeffler led Evergreen with nine points while Nathan Rupp scored five point to lead Pettisville.
