Ava Coronado, the daughter of Felipe and Michelle Coronado, and a first grader at Wauseon Primary School passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, after battling influenza.

Active with the Super Stars Dance Company and Northwest Ohio Gymnastics Academy, Ava is remembered as an remarkably caring child.

Mandy Hunter, the director of the Super Stars Dance Company, described Ava as “a sweet, kind little girl with a heart of gold! Everyone who knew her, loved her”.

In response to Ava’s passing, a GoFundMe page was organized in her memory to help cover the cost of memorials. In just 48 hours, the fundraiser was shared over 3,000 times on Facebook with nearly $30,000 raised and hundreds of people commenting about the genuinely caring nature they will miss about Ava.

In a letter sent home with all primary school students, Principal Blake Young told families of a moment of silence held over the announcements and additional counseling support is available in the school.

“I ask that everyone joins the Wauseon Primary family in sending our heartfelt sympathy to the family,” he wrote.

For her classmates, teachers, family, and loved ones, Ava’s legacy is simple and obvious:

“Ava loved life, her family and her friends. She was a gentle soul with an angelic smile that lit up a room! She had a love for dancing, big bows and the color pink! She will always be remembered,” Hunter said.

Contributions and support can still be given to the Coronado family through a memorial account set up through Fifth-Third Bank.
