Bob Short, a Williams Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Supervisor, assumed the role of the First Vice President for the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation District during the recent OFSWCD annual meeting held in Columbus. This meeting brought together nearly 600 conservation leaders throughout the state, including Supervisors and staff from Ohio’s 88 county SWCDs, agency and staff from the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the Ohio EPA, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, The Ohio State University, and many more. This year’s event focused on the theme “All-In For Conservation.”
“I am extremely honored and excited to assume the role of First Vice President for the OFSWCD,” said Short. “I am excited to serve our districts and to help address natural resources challenges like water quality and nutrient management throughout the state — in an effort to help landowners, businesses, educators and more to keep conservation practices and quality of life a high priority,” concluded Short.
During the annual meeting, the OFSWCD Officer slate was completed to consist of President Harold Neuenschwander (Holmes), 1st Vice President Short, 2nd Vice President Matt Peart (Wayne), Sec.-Treasurer Jack Hazelbaker (Adams), and Past President Kris Swartz (Wood).
The OFSWCD is a non-profit organization providing support and assistance to Ohio’s 88 county Soil and Water Conservation Districts. County SWCDs provide a variety of conservation related assistance and programs to landowners and users of Ohio’s working lands — working hard to keep soils productive and waters clean throughout the state of Ohio.
